Boulder 2140 hosts its first political debate, was it on-course?

Our liaison to the Boulder Chamber of Commerce, Scott Ziemba, covers the event —

Things got hot, Hot, HOT at the 2140 Political Engagement debate in the historic Chautauqua Dining Hall last Tuesday evening. Two democrats, a republican and a libertarian voluntarily put their feet to the fire and had a frank and lively conversation about current issues, which were chosen by a vote of those attending. The crowd was very attentive on this sweltering June evening, posing questions about jobs and the economy, the federal budget, health care reform, education funding and more.

Panelists included seasoned democrat and Dovetail Solutions founder, Andy Boian, University of Colorado Regent for Congressional District 2, Joseph Neguse, conservative Adams County republican Tom Janich, and Front Range of Freedom Founder Kevin Hotaling. Moderator R.J. Mastic was like a cool breeze, diligently equalizing the speaking time for panelists and sweeping in when necessary to keep the conversation moving in a productive direction.

Takeaways from 2140’s Political Engagement Event

  • Party affiliation matters less than knowing what you believe about the role of government vs. the private sector
  • Whatever your political or personal views, get educated and get involved. These issues impact you on a personal and professional level!
