Sneak Peek of The Bitter Bar | A Boulder Speakeasy

The Bitter Bar — Façade
Join Us for Happy Hour at The Bitter Bar! On June 27th, Boulder 2140 is throwing a swanky social at Boulder’s own authentic speakeasy

Our own Megan Coatley previews this mystery place —

The Bitter Bar on Walnut St. is a shining star amongst Boulder’s beloved breweries and pubs. With succulent small plates and entrees, dazzling drinks and decadent dessert options like S’mores and Caramel Bacon Popcorn, the word ‘bar’ doesn’t even come close to describing this gem. While lounging in a swanky red booth (and suddenly wishing I had brought my trusty pipe, smoking jacket and a copy of the collective works of Edgar Allen Poe), I asked a fellow patron what she liked about this place. She described The Bitter Bar to a T: “It’s a laid back lounge with inventive, classy cocktails that transports you back to the time of the authentic speakeasy.”

When it comes to cocktails, The Bitter Bar’s mixologists crank out bold and stylish highballs and martinis. For a refreshing summer sipper, try the Moscow Mule, made with vodka, lime and ginger beer. Or, the Sao Paulo Swizzle packs a Brazilian kick and boasts the bitters that are the bar’s namesake. For the less adventurous, they also carry several local brews and wine by the glass. Plus, the happy hour pricing on Monday through Saturday from 5 – 7pm makes it easy to test drive new food and bevvies. The Bitter Bar also hosts live music, bingo and comedy nights throughout the week. Want a new spin on the same-ol’ evening plans? Make your way to The Bitter Bar, Boulder’s exclusive cozy hideaway, for some high-class fun!
